Terms of Service

1. Who we are

CheckedName (checkedname.com) is operated by Spendjot Ltd (“we”, “us”). By using CheckedName you agree to these terms. If you use it on behalf of a company, you confirm you can bind that company to them.

2. What the service does

CheckedName generates candidate names for your project, filters them, and checks whether matching domain names and selected digital identities (such as GitHub accounts and npm package names) appear to be available. It then ranks the results.

• Availability is a snapshot, not a promise. Results reflect what registries and platforms reported at the time of checking. A name can be registered by someone else seconds later, and some names are reserved, premium-priced or restricted by registries.
• No trademark or legal advice. A name being available as a domain does not mean you can lawfully use it as a brand. You are responsible for your own trademark searches and legal checks before using a name.
• Scores are a ranking aid. Usability scores and explanations are opinions to help you compare options, not objective assessments.
• Generated names may not be unique. Other users may receive the same or similar suggestions. We don't reserve names for you.

3. Accounts

You can run limited searches as a guest. For more, you sign in with Google or GitHub. Keep that account secure, because anyone who controls it can sign in as you. Tell us at support@spendjot.app if you think your account has been compromised.

4. Plans and billing

• The Free plan costs nothing and has the limits shown on our pricing page.
• Pro costs $7/month or $59/year, plus any applicable taxes. It renews automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
• Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't see or store your full card details.
• You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. Cancellation stops future renewals, and you keep Pro until the end of the period you've already paid for.
• Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
• If we change prices, we'll tell you at least 30 days before the change affects your next renewal.

5. Fair use

Every search makes real requests to registries and third-party services. All plans, including Pro, include usage limits designed to be generous for people naming projects and to prevent automated abuse. You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. We may throttle or suspend usage that threatens the service or the providers we rely on.

6. Your content

You own the descriptions, notes and other content you submit. You give us a licence to process that content only to provide and improve CheckedName. Don't submit confidential information you aren't allowed to share. Descriptions are sent to our AI provider to generate names, as described in our Privacy Policy.

We claim no ownership of the names we suggest. As far as we're concerned, you're free to use any of them, subject to other people's rights such as existing trademarks.

7. Our service

The CheckedName software, design and brand belong to Spendjot Ltd. Don't copy, resell or reverse-engineer the service, or use it to build a competing dataset. We may improve, change or discontinue features. If we discontinue Pro entirely, we'll refund the unused part of any prepaid period.

8. Third-party links

Registrar links take you to third parties such as Namecheap, Porkbun or Cloudflare. Their terms and prices apply. We may earn an affiliate commission at no extra cost to you, and this never affects how we rank names.

9. Disclaimers and liability

CheckedName is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any name will be available or legally usable.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We aren't liable for indirect losses such as lost profits, lost business opportunities or the cost of rebranding. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.

10. Suspension and termination

You can stop using CheckedName and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes, we'll notify account holders by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using the service after that, the new terms apply.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you can also bring proceedings where you live and rely on your local consumer protections.
